Join the Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS), LPN Residency Program – a structured comprehensive 12-month program for licensed practical nurses with less than one (1) year of experience as an LPN, or less than one (1) year of acute care experience.

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

Training

The LPN Residency Program supports your transition into professional nursing practice through:

  • Orientation with a dedicated Preceptor
  • Use of our state-of-the-art simulation labs
  • Didactic learning
  • Quarterly seminars

Support

Our goal is to provide multiple sources of support throughout the year-long program which include: 

  • Peer mentor to help you transition through the program
  • Residency Program Nurse Manager
  • Residency Program Nurse Coordinator
  • Unit support includes Unit Director, Assistant Nurse Manager & Unit Educator

Graduation

This ceremony is a celebration of your completion of the LPN Residency Program. You will attend a “pinning ceremony” where your nurse manager or designee “pins” you with your new Professional LPN employee badge. You will receive a completion certificate of the LPN Residency Program and will present your evidence-based projects in a gallery walk followed by a light reception.
