Advancing cancer care
NGMC’s Lung Nodule Pathway Program was launched to help identify and treat lung cancer in the earliest stages. When lung nodules are found on a patient’s CT scans, NGMC’s interventional pulmonologists use the ion robot bronchoscope, and the power of artificial intelligence to identify, biopsy and mark tumors. Then, thoracic surgeons use the da Vinci surgical robot to remove a patient’s localized tumor, without having to remove the entire lobe, through small ports which allows for less pain and quicker recovery. Through this program, we are catching and treating cancer sooner.
“I chose to have my treatment and my care here in Gainesville, I took my chemotherapy here in Gainesville, and I had my surgery at Northeast Georgia Medical Center. I cannot explain to you how amazing it was to have that level of care this close to my home. I had complete and total faith in my surgeon and everyone else on the care team.”
