Our imaging centers prioritize patient comfort. We strive to create a relaxing experience for the patient as most MRI technologies have loud noises. Our Buford, Gainesville, and Braselton locations offer wide-bore MRI technology that provides a spacious environment for patients.
MRI, or magnetic resonance imaging, is a non-invasive procedure used to provide images of the body’s internal structures. MRI uses a magnetic field, radio waves and a computer to generate clear, exceptionally detailed “pictures” of the area of interest, without using radiation. It is a painless procedure.
MRI is often used to evaluate:
- Organs of the chest and abdomen (heart, liver, biliary tract, kidneys, spleen, pancreas and adrenal glands)
- Pelvic organs (including male and female reproductive organs)
- Blood vessels (via MRA)
- Breasts
- Brain and spine
- Joints and extremities (e.g., arms or legs)
MRI can be used to diagnose and monitor a variety of health conditions, including:
- Cysts and tumors
- Heart problems
- Blockages or enlargements of blood vessels
- Diseases of the liver, other abdominal organs, small intestine, colon and rectum
- Causes of pelvic pain
- Breast cancer
- Spinal disc issues and compressed nerves
- Bone, ligament, muscle, cartilage, or tendon issues
An MRA, or magnetic resonance angiography, is simply an MRI that focuses specifically on your arteries. MRAs are commonly used in the following areas:
- Aorta
- Brain
- Neck
- Kidneys
- Legs and feet
- Arms and hands
Our Buford, Gainesville, and Braselton locations offer wide-bore MRI technology that provides a spacious environment for patients. Our Braselton wide bore MRI scanner in particular has a weight limit of 550 pounds and was designed with patients in mind, to ensure they are at ease during the MRI. Patients can also listen to their choice of music during the MRI using Spotify.
