Areas of Treatment
Our speech-language pathologists take pride in maximizing each child’s ability to communicate with family members, peers, and others in his/her community. We want to help each child become a more active and successful participant in daily routines, conversations, and academic tasks. Additionally, we desire to minimize and prevent any meal time or nutritional difficulties a child may be experiencing.
Speech-Language Pathologists focus on improving
- Speech pronunciation
- Receptive and expressive language
- Social language
- Feeding and swallowing
- Stuttering
- Voice quality
- Cognitive skills such as problem solving, reasoning, judgment, and decision making
- Auditory processing skills
Because hearing loss may impact a child’s speech and language development, it is highly recommended (and often required depending on funding source) that a hearing evaluation be completed prior to scheduling a speech-language evaluation.
Our SLP’s provide professional and effective services to patients who have communication disabilities. Our goal is to help you effectively develop speaking and listening skills to better your life and build successful personal, academic and professional relationships.
Our SLP’s also work with patients to improve their swallowing to the highest functional level. The ability to safely and efficiently swallow helps patients regain independence, enjoy eating again and prevent complications from illnesses such as pneumonia.
A stroke or cancer can severely impact a patient’s ability to speak and/or swallow. Speech therapy can be a great part of stroke or cancer rehabilitation to restore a patient’s quality of life.
