Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center

We are committed to improving and supporting quality of life in all that we do.

Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) partners with you and your family to provide excellent care and improve your quality of life. We support your desire to live as independently as possible for as long as possible and will work with you every step of the way to monitor your safety. Our goal is to help you remain wherever you call home, in familiar surroundings whenever possible.

Through the work of the Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) Foundation, northeast Georgia will soon have an alternative to at-home and inpatient hospice care – by raising an additional 5 million dollars to build a Hospice House. This Hospice House will provide an alternative place for care, where specialized medical staff will be available 24 hours a day to manage symptoms and pain, help create a warm environment for visitors, and a compassionate home for those experiencing one of life’s most sacred moments.

What is Hospice?

Hospice is a philosophy of care. Hospice care is palliative, which means it focuses on patient comfort and quality of life. Most of our patients are cared for in the comfort of their homes or in the home-like setting of choice such as a nursing home, personal care home or assisted living residence. If a symptom is difficult to manage in the home, a patient may be admitted to a hospital for short-term symptom management. But it is our goal to help patients remain at home in familiar surroundings, whenever possible.
